It was discovered by a team of researchers at the position in Rione Terra di Pozzuoli, Italy on the Tyrrhenian Sea near Naples in southwestern Italy.
Besides the paintings and the head of the statue of the Emperor Tiberius (reigned from 14-37 AD), scientists have also discovered two other male heads of statues, and the two heads of statues of women. One of the female statues represented the Amazon, and probably comes from the second century AD, the second - according to scientists - could represent the Roman Empress in the late period of the dynasty (27 BC - 69 AD). Archaeologists also found a fragment of the statue of the horse and the Ante-fixae - an ornament on the ledge - in the form of masks, representing the Gorgon or other mythical beast from the second century The other finds are four busts and statues of two women, as well as the frieze depicting two human figures. Area of work of archaeologists, including - according to them - the remnants of ancient public buildings and residential houses located on a hill, overlooking the sea. So far, only a portion of the position was investigated.
