Exceptionally well-preserved remains of a feathered dinosaur discovered strong in China. It is the oldest known animal science, with feathers - tells Nature. Very well and almost entirely preserved skeleton of an animal found in north eastern China in the region Jianchang. Age formations in which they found, is estimated at 161-151 million years ago. China is therefore a finding of about 10 million years older than Archeopteryx - who lived less than 150 million years ago in Germany, and previously recognized as the oldest fossil great-bird. As stressed in an interview with the BBC one of the discoverers of the fossils, prof. Xu Xing of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, the new discovery is the ultimate proof that dinosaurs gave rise to birds. So far, the theory that birds descended from dinosaurs, there was strong evidence in the form of traces of feathers, which are older than archeopteryx. Meanwhile, the newly found, well-preserved remains can be seen that the pen lush overgrown front legs and tail of the animal. Were also feathered his legs, which gave the impression of "biplane". The newly found specimen confusingly similar to another found a bit earlier and at a different position (including China), and named Anchiornis huxleyi. His bones, however, were defective, because only by examining the skeleton, scientists later discovered that this species may be crucial for understanding the origin of birds and their ability to fly. Prof. Xu believes that the figure of "four wings" could be a very important step in the evolutionary transition from dinosaurs to birds. |
